Clarification:

"Shifts apply to materials based on their original identity; that is, shifting a water to lava and then shifting lava to acid will result either in all original water or lava being replaced by acid (but not both)"

Doesn't the water being replaced by acid imply that the shifted material also matters? Or shouldn't this result in what was originally lava shifted into acid, while what was originally water shifted to lava (and not further into acid)?

Random source materials[]

In my experiments with eliminating polymorphine from the game, I've observed that some of the randomized source materials are a bit nuanced:

  • Packed Snow displays as "snow", only shifts some of the snow in Snowy Depths, none in the surface wasteland, and almost all of the packed snow in Hiisi Base.
  • Chaotic polymorphine is a possible source material.
