Factions

All creatures belong to a faction or herd. Each faction has a set relationship with each other faction that defines how friendly they are to each other.

In addition, each species has an aggressiveness range defined on a species level, which allows for different behavior from different species within the same faction.

An individual creature has an aggressiveness determined randomly from within their aggressiveness range. If their aggressiveness exceeds their factional relation stat with another faction, that creature will be aggressive towards all creatures from the other faction.

For example, any individual instance of a Haulikkohiisi (from the orcs faction) has a relation of 40 with animals in the helpless faction. The aggressiveness range for a Haulikkohiisi is 1-100, so any given instance of a Haulikkohiisi has a 60% chance of attacking all helpless animals. (Note that this is different from attacking 60% of all helpless animals - any instance of a Haulikkohiisi will either attack all helpless animals or none.)

As another example, the Raukka, despite also belonging to the orcs faction, has an aggressiveness range of 1-20. So a single stack of the More Love perk, which improves the relations between all factions by 25 per stack, will cause Raukka to never aggress towards the player (or any other creature).

The player has relation of 0 with all factions by default with one exception, orcs (hiisi), with which they have a relation of 2, so rarely you find hiisi that are not aggressive to you.

Below is a table showing faction relations. (So, for example: the robot row shows how likely a robot is to attack members of other factions. The robot column shows how likely other factions are to attack robots.)
