A desolate landscape of sand and cacti.

About

The desert is devoid of enemies and consists mostly of barren dunes of sand with the occasional cactus here and there, along with a music machine. The most notable feature here is the large pyramid in the center. It has a pair of doors that can be destroyed by explosives in order to enter. On top of the pyramid you will find a Max health upgrade along with the Emerald Tablet of Thoth.

For more information, see:

The Giant Skull

There is an unnamed feature to the west of the pyramid consisting of a giant skull. Digging into its eye-socket and filling approximately half of it with water (about two and a half flasks worth) will spawn a permanent portal leading to the Lake on the western side of the world.

Connected Areas

  • The Forest lies to the west.
  • For much of the area before and after the pyramid you can dig down to reach the Desert Chasm.
  • If you travel all the way to the east end you will come upon the world border, leading to the eastern Parallel worlds if pierced.
  • Climbing the eastern world wall will lead you up to a secret ??? room.
  • Above the ??? room you will find a huge chunk of extremely dense rock, but digging to its center will land you in The Gold.

Tips

  • Sometimes world generation makes a hole in the ground here which allows enemies from the Desert Chasm to reach the surface. These are mid-game enemies and can be hard to fight in the beginning.

Soundtrack

The music as the player enters Desert is track 6 of Noita Official Soundtrack vol. 1 and is titled "There's Sand in My Wand".[1]
